Hi All, thanks for comments. And also thanks for finding the bug.
I have solved the problem with the numbers that are starting with ‘0′, but I am still working with numbers starting with ‘+’ sign.

Simon:For me also your image is not working, instead of very small icon, try a little big image size, like 128×128, and check if it works after that.

  7. cube3x3 Says:

Thanks to my roommate, Vikram, to find the solution, Now phone no starting with ‘+’ signs also works. Chekout..

  8. Jim Says:

This is genius, it worked for me like a charm. Got all of my favorite people’s pictures from my Picasa web album and they all now have beautiful icons on the home screen. Thanks a million.

  9. David Says:

hey. How do I erase one of my contacts from the home screen?

  10. cube3x3 Says:

David: You can delete the contact like a normal webclip, keep your finger on one icon till they start shaking, and then click ‘x’ button on top of it to remove it.

  11. cube3x3 Says:

Jim: Thanks a lot.. And wait for one or two day, i m working on something more exciting..

  12. Simon Says:

Thanks very much for getting back. I’ll try later and let you know. Cheers.

  13. Deggy Says:

Working really well now :) and your next challenge is to have a larger image showing on the main screen while the alert comes up :)

    Keep up the great work.

  14. deggy Says:

here I am with another request. Could you make theme font that comes up on the screen Aerial or better still a mac style font rather than Times?

Would look much more iPhone looking then.

trying now 400×400 .jpg - still no good. i tried a 128×128 .png and the didn’t work either. maybe it’s the homepage.mac.com address causing the trouble?

ah well, never mind. maybe i’ll try again in a couple of days. thanks for your help before though.

    simon

  16. cube3x3 Says:

Simon: well, as u said may be its homepage.mac.com problem.. try to put the same image in flickr or picasa like that. Because images from flickr and picasa works great for others..

Simon: This link is working great for me…
Are u using the ‘Get Speeddial Icon Bookmarklet’ provided on the webapp page? or you are directly entering the icon URL?

Please use the bookmarklet to select the icon, its a lot better than entering it manually.

  19. Lobo Says:

I’m trying to use the image below or any of the other images from my photobucket account and it won’t detect any of them….their in jpg format and around 128×128 size.
    http://i5.photobucket.com/albums/y152/rafalobo/avatarsouth3b.jpg
I tried using the icon generator also but safari closes when I get to step #4 above. this sucks.

  20. cube3x3 Says:

Lobo: Thanks for finding the bug, the main problem is that if you try the bookmarklet directly to the image url, like ending with .jpg or .gif, safari is not able to work it with DOM model so it crashes. If you put the image on some html webpage and then try the bookmarklet, it will work. Sorry for the inconvenience caused. Please let me know if it still doesn’t work.

  21. Lobo Says:

I placed the image on a basic html page (http://vivamexclan.com/images/index.html) and surfed to that page with safari. I use the bookmarklet to show the images and it doesn’t crash anymore. I select a picture and it places the image url into the “Speeddial Webclip Generator” (same as if I input the image url manually) but when I click “Generate –> Tap for Shortcut” the image doesn’t show up at all. Even if I try to go ahead and add it to my homescreen as a speeddial webclip, the image still doesn’t show up.

Also, I don’t see any difference between placing the image on an html page and using the actual image url on the Speeddial Webclip Generator….when you go to a html page with images, the bookmarklet takes the image url of the image you’ve selected and places it into the Speeddial Webclip Generator. So how is this any different than if we just input the image url ourselves? It doesn’t work either way!

A much simpler way to creat a speeddial webclip is to use:
    http://XXXXXXXXXX.TEL.QLNK.NET
    or
    http://XXXXXXXXXX.TEL.QLNK.NET/?picurl=http://www.website.com/imagename.gif (or jpg or png)
    X = phone number

But even this method doesnt work all the time either.

I have yet to find a method that works.

  22. Lobo Says:

btw…I’m using 1.1.3 WITHOUT JAILBREAK which is what I’m assuming most other users above are using since the webclip feature is only available as of 1.1.3 and there’s no 1.1.3 jailbreak yet (at least without having to downgrade first).
    thanks

  23. cube3x3 Says:

Lobo: When you hit ‘Add to Homescreen’, wait for a while till iPhone fetches the icon from server, as Erx has commented, it takes some time depending upon your connection speed to get the icon.

  24. Lobo Says:

AH! That worked…with your hack and the “tel.qlnk.net” hack as well =)
guess i was in too much of a hurry!
    Thanks

I don’t have a ‘ + ‘ button on the navigation panel on the bottom of my Iphone???
    It’s a 1.1.1

  26. Bruce Bush Says:

Might be worth adding to your instructions for the bookmarklet that the image you wish to target may be ON a web page, but must not actually BE the web page. i.e.,

    http://someserver/photo.jpg -> doesn’t work

    http://someserver/viewer.html -> does work

    if viewer.html contains at least:
